How to make a small room look big!

YAY! I recently moved into my new apartment, including a super cool new roomie, and I couldn’t be happier! It took us a lot of Pinterest hours and browsing through interior magazines to get our new decoration on point. I want to show you guys the end result of my new, cozy home. In this post I’m taking you on in a tour of my new bedroom. I’ve always lived in houses with spacious bedrooms, but this one is way smaller. So it was quite tricky to decorate, but I’m very happy with how it turned out. I didn’t want to randomly stuff my room with chunky, large, but necessary furniture, so I used some tricks to make my room look bigger. Ready? Let’s do this!   COLORS   A room always looks bigger when it’s painted white. This color goes with every interior style and is ofcourse timeless. That’s why white furniture is also the best option to use, I really didn’t want a minimal interior so I created a great combination between whites …

#VINTER time!

Aaah the holidays, some are not very into it but I love it! Everything around me looks way more cozy then it did before and I love that I can spend so many cozy nights with family and friends. There’s always something to celebrate, rather it’s Christmas party number 3 or one week of holiday vacation. I just love #VINTER! Wonder how I decorated my Christmas table? Scroll down to check all the details! Ikea also loves to celebrate and that’s why they made a collection to make your “Christmas decoration” dreams come true. From Christmas lights to the coolest plates, this collection is so beautiful. What I love most about the #VINTER collection  is the fact that you can use most of the products not only during the holidays but all year long! I picked a set of structured plates, in small and large. I loved that my small and large plates have different structures, this makes it more playful, so I did the same thing with my bowls. Cool right? I don’t …

Happy Pills

We always get excited whenever we discover creative talent from our own little country, Belgium. The first thing we saw from jewelry designer Jasmien Witvrouwen was a cute, little seahorse pin. We were curious to see more and she surprised us with the rest of her fun collection. That’s why we couldn’t be more happy to share the unique story behind Happy Pills. Happy Pills is about a feel good story, although it all started out on a less bright note. Jasmien is a young, creative lady who never sits still. 2 years ago she was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and gastroparesis. This diagnosis hit her like a bomb. Her life is with ups and downs now, but Jasmien decided to embrace the little things. Those small, but magical moments that make life worth living. She turned her life upside down and that’s how the project ‘Happy Pills’ was born. She started out making little earrings with ornate funny spells like ‘Kiss my ass’ (a hidden message to her former employer) and ‘No more Tinder’. Wearing these …

Goldfetch x Polette

As most of you already know we both wear glasses frequently. Not only as a fashion statement but also because our sight (sadly) isn’t that good. Therefore we couldn’t be more happy then when we got the opportunity to do a collaboration with Polette. Polette is an international online optician, founded in France and also the French market leader. They offer hundreds of design frames for very affordable prices. These low prices are made possible because Polette is the only part between the factory and the costumer in the production process. This is of course without compromise on quality.     While we were hunting for the perfect pair of glasses on their website, we discovered the possibilities were endless. For each frame you can choose between optical glasses or a variety of colored glasses to turn your frame into sunglasses. We had a hard time deciding which frame to pick. But the fun part is: since the prices are so affordable (starting from EUR 9.99) you can easily order more than one frame and …

Atelier Feliz

Lately we’ve been obsessing about all the pretty handmade jewelry from Atelier Feliz! So we couldn’t wait writing a blog post about her. Let us give you a small introduction: Feliz (1993) is a young jewelry designer from Antwerp. She studied a bachelor of jewelry design at Sint Lucas Antwerp. After she graduated last year she decided to bring out her own collection. Feliz likes to work with everything pretty, so it’s no surprise beauty is very important to her. She takes her inspiration from nature and plants, like modern classics as the Cactus or the Monstera Pertusum. Or she makes your home town or favorite travel country into a jewelry piece by using their outlines, so you can wear it on your skin as a map. (in the pictures you can see the outlines of Antwerp) Every single piece is completely handmade by Feliz in precious materials like silver and gold. Be sure to check out her Facebook and Instagram!   All pictures are by Michelle Serdons

Corten

Corten is an ecologically friendly chair designed by Michelle Janssen. Michelle recently graduated as a Master in Interior Design at the University of Antwerp. She manufactured the frame from one metal tube that she got at a factory. Therefor the length of the production process was double as fast than normal and there were less welding points needed! By making these choices it was possible to create a chair that costs less than €10 in the purchase of raw materials. PLUS it’s 100% ecological! Except for  the ecological friendliness there are other important functions of Corten, such as the material used to bind the open, steel frame together. She searched for materials strong enough to hold the force of the open structure (which was found through a company in Belgium that annually produces 7.5 tons of conveyor waste)   Interesting side note: This company has to pay to deposit their waste abroad. So Michelle realized  that their ‘waste’ was a gold mine for her, and she could gather all the materials to get Corten realized. Throughout the development process Michelle …
